Bristol Festival of Puppetry

Emilys' puppet trail for the Bristol Festival of Puppetry is being installed today and tomorrow.Exciting. lots of fantastic puppets in the shops on North St, Bedminster.

As for us we perform the first 10 minutes of "Attack of the 50 foot Woman" at puppet prototype on Sunday 28th August in the Tobacco factory theatre. Rehearsals at fever pitch!
"Betty Peartree and the Dogcatcher" performing at puppet festival Carnival on Sunday 4th.

We are working VERY hard on "50" footer and it is becoming something to be proud of.....all we need now are some gigs!..........Anyone?

We reached our kickstarter limit and thanks to all the pledgers we are now packing for the trip to Germany to premiere Dr. Kopfov and his headless lady in the cabaret at the end of the world hangar at Fusion festival June 30th - July 4th.

It seems there is some confusion (or is it unwillingness?) amongst the UK potential pledgers.

Hardly anyone has pledged to help our Dr. Kopfov and his headless lady project..although many have said they will.

People seem to be saying that they are waiting until pay day to pledge.

YOU DO NOT NEED MONEY IN YOUR BANK TO PLEDGE TODAY.

Pledge to give £x and only if we reach our target will the money be taken from your account on May 8th.

Well,

we didn't get the residency. Didn't even get an interview, but we aren't really ready yet.

There's a lot of competition from companies that have a track record of venue based puppet shows to prove their worth!

Work continues on '50 footer'....watch this space for some work in progress shots of the puppets.
Have been to 3 or 4 puppet shows in the last few weeks .The best being 'Alice in Wonderland' at The little Angel theatre in London( a theatre dedicated to puppetry).The others however all had one thing in common that I found to detract greatly from the show and that was SHIT LIGHTING! Atmosphere is all well and good but if I can't see the puppets faces I lose interest.....lesson learnt!

New Year....

Well, here it is then, 2011.....

A start has been made on "50 footer",but Christmas and the flu have got in the way a tad!

We have a plan, (many plans) it is coming together but a little more slowly than we envisaged back in November.

Our new studio is ace if a bit bloody cold!

The walls are covered in storyboards and excitement is near fever pitch.

Other things :

* We have applied for "Puppets about; puppetry residency"

Would LOVE to get this, it would really mean we are going somewhere and are being taken seriously.Not only would it take Croon into a world of professionalism but the space and time to experiment and develop , especially in Object theatre would be very exciting and satisfying.

*Em is attending " applied puppetry symposium" at little Angel at end of January. Ideas for puppetry for kids with SEN - especially autism: a puppet show that explores everyday routines and social skills perhaps?

*We are both doing a puppetry workshop with Gavin Glover ( from Faulty Optic) as part of London mime fest.

So, apart from the flu - it's all go really.

Wish us luck for the residency.

We have been offered a grants for the arts award from arts council England.

Hooray!

We have recently applied to Arts Council England for funding for our next show.

We plan to devise and produce a puppet version of the 1950's cult film classic "Attack of the 50ft Woman"........

We have returned from Prague.The marionette manipulation course was fantastic...we have been inspired to make a new show. Watch this space!
